Tittel: Identd returns random string instead of user name

When connecting to IRC servers, the normal ident is replaced with a seemingly random string of characters instead of the user name one would expect.

Example:
[11:56] *** Joins: Floyd_ATC ([ScpSm69j4@hermes.atc.no)

In "/etc/identd.conf", comment out the following line:
"result:encrypt = yes"

Now reload identd with the command "service identd reload".

Reconnect to the IRC server and you should get the user name:
[11:59] *** Joins: Floyd_ATC (floyd@hermes.atc.no)
