Redhat 9 + qmail = I_couldn't_find_any_host_by_that_name

A scratch installed RH9 box compiles qmail ok as soon as the errno and dns patches are applied. However, the DNS resolver doesn't work at all, even for hosts that check out 100% ok:

The shipped glibc has a lot of known problems. Download and install the appropriate errata packages. For an i686 based system, these are the ones you need:

glibc-2.3.2-27.9.7.i686.rpm
glibc-common-2.3.2-27.9.7.i386.rpm
