Medion MD9458 flatbed scanner won't work in Windows XP

The driver file "sca9458win9xp.exe" from the Medion website does not work, Windows reports that the scanner "failed to operate".

After months of searching for the original driver that shipped with my scanner, I finally found it on a pay-site. Since this really SUCKS, please download my copy from
http://home.atc.no/~floyd/download/medion_MD9458.exe
and share it...

Since I had already tried half a dozen different drivers, I had to do the following to make my scanner work properly:

1. Extract the archive in a temp directory
2. Run SETUP.EXE and install the driver
3. Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties"
4. In the "Hardware" tab, click "Device Manager"
5. Under "Imaging devices", locate your scanner (mine was marked with a yellow question mark (?)
6. Right-click and select "Update driver"
7. Now, INSTALL FROM A SPECIFIC LOCATION
8. Select your temp directory and locate the WinXP directory

The driver should now FINALLY work as intended. I would really appreciate your feedback (positive or negative) on this one... Email: floyd@atc.no
