Windows 2000 clock insists on incorrect date/time

  • Windows 2000 client suddenly gets incorrect date/time. When date/time is re-set to the correct date/time, the problem comes back within 15 minutes. BIOS time/date is correct.

  • Win2K domain controllers automatically act as time synchronization servers. If a server with incorrect date/time is introduced into the domain, all clients running windows 2000 or later will automatically sync to this timeserver and inherit the incorrect information.

    On the client, use the command line "w32tm -once" to see the IP address and name of the current time server. Then correct the time/date on that server.
